Maldives becomes another Egypt, Syria, Lybia with journalists, politicians and hundreds of civilians beaten up gravelly injured since Dictator Nasheed started a purge on the freedom of expression, with “Thiheneh Nukiyene campaign named in English as “You can’t say that”: Political opponents Journalists, members of the Judiciary and hundreds of civilians are held in jail tonight under arrest.

Tonight Dictator carried out arrests from all pillars of Democracy except from his own. The Head Judge Abdulla Saeed from the Judiciary was arrested on the Dictators order some time ago tonight; while opposition Politician Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed was taken by force into custody and moved to an undisclosed location a few hours ago, and journalist Sandhaanu Ahamaidhee got beaten up and burnt by the President and the ruling party’s Chairperson’s bodyguard led group of party activists.
A week or so ago the President’s spokesman announced that the President do not like how certain journalists write, what they say about his party and his government so he is going to make sure they are silenced. His spokesperson Zuhair named and shamed their victims then and their calling Deputy Leader of Jameel too bold for his own good, as well as named opposition party PPM’s MP Ahmed Mahloof. Following the announcement of their govenrment’s campaign “you can’t say this”, they started this cycle of arrests which reached epic heights with Dr Jameel taken to an undisclosed location, Ahamidhee burnt and beaten up by President Nasheed’s own body guards and ruling party thugs that came straight out of one of the series of meetings held, under the motto “you can’t say that”. Every night the President gathers his ruling party heads and their followers hate mongering through and through to the point they leave the meeting and attack, burn premises that they think are too vocal for their taste; while the Police and the Military are mobilised to arrest many others.
A sane President carrying out this kind of assault on freedom of expression is a first in the times that we live in. The man Maldivian call President has lost his marbles and has been engaging in weird behaviours for quite some time. But this is way out of order and this has to be stopped now or never.
It is time we come out and defend our liberties and freedom. A President that carries out a campaign against his own people naming it, “You can’t say that”; alone is enough to end the reign of terror he established from day one. Enough is enough. It is time to act and rectify this grave mistake.
