Maldives Military and the Police arrest opposition leaders and MP’s and put them in solitary confinement in Dhoonidho, prison for political prisoners, while UN blindly claimed last year that no political prisoners came to their notice under Mohamed Nasheed

The Maldives Military and the Maldives Police Service both controlled by political appointees of supposed to be a democratic leader Nasheed has barricaded parts of the Capital, after arresting Leaders of the main two parties, Yamin Leader of PA and Gasim Leader of JP.
Both Yamin and Gasim are taken to the notorious prison for political prisoners in Dhoonidho, where the first President of the first Republic died a horrible death.
Repeatedly this government of MDP and Nasheed that employ an army of PR specialists and international news agencies such as the BBC among others; to face lift his regime in the international front resorts to arbitrary arrest of mostly opposition Parliament members and those Leaders of opposition parties that air the grievances on the broken citizen’s behalf.
At first today, the Dictator assembled his pro newspapers, which is the only left after his and his activist’s persecutions and stabbing of journalists, got all his Cabinet Minister’s to resign and make a show of it. He got them all to quote that the Parliament is obstructing his Ministers and government as despite of buying as many as MP’s he could still a slight majority rests with the independent MP’s and opposition MP’s.
A day ago he sold the Maldives Airports to businessmen from India in underhand dealings. To block the resistance by the Parliament over the sale of all national airports; he came up with this political stunt of getting his Cabinet to resign.
Then he announced to the national media that he controls; because his cabinet resigned he had to investigate their accusation against opposition Parliament Members therefore he is putting the Military and Maldives Police service both controlled by his own appointees to conduct the investigations, by-passing the Judiciary and independent institutions enacted to do this job.
The Military is arbitrarily arresting and taking opposition MP’s one by one into custody, and solitary confinement to the isolated island of Dhoonidho and the political prison there; starting with the Leaders of PA Yamin and Leader of JP Gasim Ibrahim, even though Gasim Ibrahim and the coalition that he formed with the President helped him to come to power in the second round of 2008 Presidential election; showing how ungrateful and dictatorial he is when it comes to protecting his status quo.
Gasim Ibrahim the richest man in the Maldives despite of the President’s constant threats to jeopardise his businesses finally after a period of silence has started becoming vocal against the Dictator recently, therefore paid the price by getting arrested and sent to Dhoonidho jail.
Both are held at the notorious prison of Dhoonidho, while the Police are hunting other prominent opposition MP’s including the Vice President of PA Yamen’s party and Vice Speaker of the Majlis Nazim.
The Military and the Police are guarding the streets, barricading parts of the Capital where the all important Presidential Palace, the Military and the Police Headquarters are located.
When the news broke newspapers although vary and scared of the persecutions and stabbing of their journalists are posting the comments from desperate citizens all over the country; everyone of them expressing their heavy distaste of the MDP government and Dictator Nasheed.
We will report on the events as it unfolds. The Plight of the people hit by constant rise in inflation, unemployment, public service job cuts, political lynching and persecutions by the Dictator’s political appointees posted in every inhabited island are largely ignored and unheard as the international community is protecting the status quo of a Dictator that they helped to come to power
